The highest form of authority
INNER AUTHORITY
The following outline is a pure observation and inner feeling from my side. I mean no harm, no judgement, no criticizing. There is no one to blame. It is however a reflection I feel I want to share with you, since I believe that it is our birth right to be connected to and rely on our inner authority, to believe in ourselves, to trust ourselves, to live intuitively. Bottom line we are all pure love, and in order to live from a place of love, I invite you to join me on the most difficult, yet (distance-wise) shortest voyage ever (approx. 30 cm) – from our minds to our hearts.
Here we go.
The more I’m into walking my own path and leaving the main(stream) road behind, the more aware I become about the immensely deep collective conditioning around ‘authority’. Without knowing, we are ‘imprisoned’ in what the world, the collective, society is telling us to be ‘right’, ‘normal’ or ‘the truth’.
I realized that it is probably for a reason why one of the few things I still remember from the Dutch classes in high school is the concept of ‘authority fallacy’ ;) (drogreden beroep op autoriteit).
Instead of trusting and relying on our inner authority, we gave our power away.
All of us, to some degree.
Let’s go back to where it all starts.
When you re-in-carnate into this world you literally first have to get used to being ‘in carne’ (meaning ‘in meat’): getting used to your human body, your earthly vehicle. You are 100% your pure self, no filters, no conditionings, no beliefs, plus you are entirely connected to yourself and your needs. Your emotions run freely, you respond to the signs your body is giving (hunger, pain, tiredness, etc). You fart, you burp, you smile, you cry, you sleep, you breathe. You are pure consciousness and connected to your true self. No questioning, no judging, no resisting. You listen to your inner authority, without even thinking about it.
But then, we grow up. Between 0-7 years old the (main) conditioning starts. You start to observe, copy, and cope. The things, behaviours, habits, patterns, energies you see and feel around you start to become your truth. Burping and farting is not allowed any longer and letting your emotions run freely isn’t appreciated either. You try to find your way to ‘fit in’, (mainly) unconsciously. Instead of listening to your intuition, to the emotions you feel or the signs your body is giving, you start to depend on and listen to what the outside world is telling/showing you to be ‘right’.
Step by step, we disconnect from our intuition/gut feeling/inner voice or knowing and travel from our hearts up to our minds. We measure, we fact-check, we calculate, we (over)analyse, and we learn to listen to and rely on science, the law, the facts, and authority figures. Whether it is your teacher, your mom or dad, your neighbour with a PHD, your boss, the lawyer, the politician, the king, the prime minister, the police officer, and so on: we are taught that they hold the truth.
The result of this focus on external authority?
• We disconnect from our intuition
• We don’t take (enough) care of ourselves
• We don’t take responsibility for our own life
• We forget we have free will
• We lack deeper connections with each other
• We give away our power
And this, is currently more visible than ever.
From the rising number of people questioning authority, to the increasing number of burnouts and depressions, to the millennials doubting their job and career path, to the ever-growing refugee streams, to the natural disasters taking place. The world is on fire and so are we.
Our bodies, our souls, mother nature and humanity as a whole, are asking us to take our power back and to become aware (again) of our inner authority. It demands us to water our inner garden, to take care of ourselves, to listen to ourselves and be our true selves.
For quite some time most of us thought (unconsciously) that the only authority existing was the authority outside of us. We (unconsciously) looked for answers outside of ourselves. We (unconsciously) believed that external authority would know and do what is best for us. And it did work (more or less).
However, this paradigm isn’t fitting any more. We are expanding our consciousness and are invited to shift our focus back to our inner authority and (re)connect with our pure, authentic self.
Your feelings, values, preferences, desires, interests and experiences are your compass, your source of truth and you can’t learn them from someone else.
There’s a shift happening. Personal leadership is a thing and self-consciousness is a concept more and more people start to embrace/work with/live by. An increasing number of people start to realize they have free will and take full responsibility (again) for their life.
It’s about getting back to your core, your essence.
Who are you, underneath all those layers, conditionings, beliefs and truths of the outside world? What does your gut feeling tell you? What fascinates you? What do you like to do? What is your passion and purpose? What do you need right now? If time & money didn’t exist, where would you go, what would you do, how would you feel?
Imagine everyone standing in their power, experiencing inner peace, following their hearts, listening to their intuition and sharing their energy with the world.
That is what is happening right now, step by step.
We are on our way, travelling back to our inner knowing and intelligence. Back to the answers within: the highest form of authority. A movement which is creating a collective ripple effect (yeay!). Or as I like to quote: “the shift is real” ;)
In this together.
I see you.
With love,
Grace Lucky
